A Life Plan for 2011

Everyone says resolutions are bad... I am not so sure, but I do know they are known to be temporary in our culture.  I am not looking for temporary.

I want to make some positive changes in my life... and I have decided I need to be specific about my goals.
1.  Lose weight to reduce my blood pressure and get off meds.
2.  Lose weight to need significant alterations on my sister's MOH dress.
3.  Find a job that challenges and fulfills me.
4.  Spend more quality time with Andrew and Monster.
5.  Find ways to be happy everyday.

This blog is mostly for me, but I will keep you posted.

lots of time in the kitchen...

Andrew, Monster, and I are all going to Otisco Lake tomorrow evening. Our friends Megan, Joe and their dog Kai are there staying at her parents place. We will be boating and riding the wave runners. It will be a great long weekend...

We have to bring food to grill, a dish to pass, and we wanted to bring some treats. Our kitchen has been hopping tonight: vegetarian chili, banana muffins, a yummy salad that I will show you in full detail on another day, and cranberry oatmeal cookies! Delicious! It was a bit weird though when the kitchen smelled like a spicy banana. Yum?

It has poured here the last few days and I hope that we can catch a break at the lake. I want sunshine and boat time!

And so it begins...

Here it is, the first post. I thought to myself earlier today... I need to get started writing again. My friend Jenn mentioned that she blogs, said you all should too. I figure that she is right, that I can write about anything.

I am watching Ghostbusters as I set all of this up. It was made before my husband was even born. The times that it occurs to me that he is six years younger than me are funny... movies he doesn't know, the music of Michael Jackson that he hadn't heard... makes me feel like an old lady. This movie is outstanding, the idea that New Yorkers would cheer and revere these misfits. Love it. "Gotta run, got a date with a ghost"

It is a bit intimidating starting a blog, knowing that so many people already write. Ah well, at least it will give me something to do while I am watching old movies.
